How to Choose a Long-Stay Hotel in Bangkok

If your trip to Bangkok is one week or longer, the rules change. The hotel that wins on a 3-night booking — pretty lobby, fancy breakfast, central location — often loses on a 21-night booking. Here's the checklist we'd hand a friend who asked.

Why long stays are different

On a short stay, you tolerate. On a long stay, you live. After night five, the things you barely noticed start to feel non-negotiable. Hotel breakfasts get repetitive. The hallway noise that was charming becomes annoying. The mini-bar you didn't touch is taking up the fridge space you actually need.

The 7-point checklist

  1. Daily housekeeping included — not "available on request" or "every other day". Daily.
  2. Laundry that returns same-day — bonus if there's a coin laundry as backup.
  3. Empty in-room fridge — for groceries, leftovers, medication.
  4. Quiet neighbourhood — residential soi over busy avenue.
  5. Walking distance to a supermarket and convenience store — Tops, Foodland, 7-Eleven.
  6. 24-hour reception — for early flights, late check-ins, taxi help.
  7. Honest pricing — no resort fee, no surprise extras, weekly/monthly rates that beat OTA nightly rates.

Neighbourhood: where to actually stay

Sukhumvit is great for 3 nights and miserable for 30. The mid-Sukhumvit sois are loud and the prices reflect tourist demand. Areas like Lat Phrao trade a 20-minute MRT ride for a much calmer night and 30–50% lower prices.

If you can land within 10 minutes of an MRT station and a 24-hour supermarket, you're already winning. Read our Lat Phrao guide for one example of a neighbourhood that fits.

Room shape matters more than star rating

Long stays reward space, not chandeliers:

  • A desk that works for laptops.
  • A wardrobe big enough for unpacked clothes.
  • A fridge with real space.
  • A bed you'd buy yourself.
  • A bathroom you don't dread.

At 95 Lodge our Family Suite and Grand Family Suite are designed exactly for this — see our long-stay page for how it bundles together.

How to book a long stay

OTA prices rarely show the best long-stay rates. Direct messaging is faster:

  1. Send dates, number of guests, reason for the stay.
  2. Ask if daily housekeeping and laundry are included.
  3. Confirm the fridge is empty and usable.
  4. Lock in the rate in writing (WhatsApp / email).

FAQ

What's a "long stay" — exactly?

One week or longer. From there the savings and bundled services scale.

Is it cheaper than a serviced apartment?

Often yes, especially if you don't need a full kitchen. A great fridge plus a 24-hour supermarket nearby covers 80% of what a kitchen is for.

Can I extend mid-stay?

At 95 Lodge, yes — message reception and we'll match the long-stay rate going forward.

Should I avoid OTA for long stays?

OTAs are useful for the first comparison, but the best long-stay rates almost always come from messaging the hotel directly.
